The supraspinatus tendon runs from the scapula to the humerus bone. The tendon can become inflamed due to a throwing injury, a fall, or from injury to the bursa. What is it? Supraspinatus Inflammation is the reddening, swelling, and irritation of the supraspinatus tendon. Common Signs & Symptoms: Common symptoms include pain in abduction from 0-60 degrees, anterior shoulder pain, especially at night, tenderness when pressure is applied, and aching or stiffness. Common Assessments: Assessment methods involve evaluating pain levels and location, testing strength and range of motion limitations, analyzing biomechanics and posture, performing the Neer’s Impingement Test, and collecting a thorough patient history to determine the mechanism of injury. |
